High-traffic areas in east Charlotte achieved a historic safety milestone in July, going the entire month without pedestrian or bicyclist fatalities. City officials credit this success to recent investments like improved crosswalks and intersections. The City of Charlotte plans maintaining this approach with further upgrades, including a $65 million initiative for Shamrock Drive and Eastway Drive.

Three separate elections for Miami-Dade County Commissioner seats are scheduled across Districts 2, 5, and 8. Candidates running for office have emphasized diverse priorities, including investing in infrastructure and making budget cuts. Former Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam endorsed Charlie Hatcher, a Republican challenger, in the District 5 primary against incumbent U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles. St. George Mayor Pro Tem and Councilman J. Andrew Murrell announced his candidacy for District 5 Justice of the Peace. The announcement marks his entry into the judicial election for the district.

Pasadena's Rent Stabilization Department will host its third 'Chats & Snacks with a Housing Counselor' event on June 30 at Villa Parke Community Center in District 5. The event, now expanded to include the Housing Rights Center, offers residents housing assistance and information.
