A 27-year-old man was arrested in East Palo Alto connection with an alleged domestic violence kidnapping and attack on August 7. The suspect was taken into custody Tuesday night, according to the East Palo Alto Police Department. Police identified the suspect as Ricardo Herrera Castillo.

A 20-year-old Mountain View man was sentenced to four years in state prison for assaulting and groping a woman outside a 7-Eleven in East Palo Alto. The conviction was reported by the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.

A small dog missing for weeks was rescued by firefighters in San Francisco Bay using boats, trucks, and a drone. The dog had vanished over the Fourth of July weekend and was spotted entering the bay near the Dumbarton Bridge in East Palo Alto on July 16.

A bicyclist, Jakub Solovsky, 34, was fatally struck by a black Porsche Sedan in unincorporated San Mateo County. The California Highway Patrol Redwood City area office identified him, and the San Mateo County Coroner's Office confirmed his identity.

A burglar from East Palo Alto was sentenced to 17 years in prison for 13 counts of residential burglary in San Mateo County. He pleaded no contest and was accused of dozens more burglaries.
