Middleby Corp. reported second-quarter earnings of $54.8 million, achieving a net income per share of $1.21, which beat Wall Street expectations. The food preparation equipment company posted revenue of $875.5 million, also exceeding forecasts. For the full year, Middleby expects earnings to range from $6.73 to $6.89 per share.

A 27-year-old Chicago man, David Rosales, is facing 12 felony counts for allegedly setting multiple garbage cans on fire in Elgin. He is charged with five counts of arson, six counts of criminal damage to government property, and criminal damage with fire.
