A Detroit nonprofit, Northwest Goldberg Cares, is seeking community assistance after thieves stole 400 pairs of donated sneakers intended for a children's event. The stolen items, valued at $40,000, were donated by USA Basketball and were stored in a warehouse ahead of the organization's annual HOOPFEST event.

Over 400 pairs of donated basketball shoes were stolen after approximately 900 pairs were delivered for Northwest Goldberg Cares' annual HOOPFEST giveaway. A staff member discovered the missing sneakers on Friday morning, according to founder and Executive Director Daniel Washington.
