Highway 70

A Cheatham County deputy fired shots at a car during an attempted traffic stop on Highway 70 near the Davidson County line after the driver fled, believing he was heading toward deputies. Although no one in the vehicle was hurt, the driver's car eventually became disabled, allowing deputies to take the driver into custody. The initial traffic stop had been made through contact from the Metro Nashville Police Department.

A driver was hospitalized after a car collided with a tractor at Highway 70 and Ballenger Road in Smith County, Tennessee. Emergency crews performed an extensive rescue operation to free the trapped driver, who was later taken to the hospital for treatment. The cause of the crash and the driver’s condition remain under investigation.

William Richards was charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication after a three-vehicle crash on Nashville's Highway 70 that killed David Elliot. Toxicology results indicated Richards tested positive for THC at the time of the crash.
