Homeland Security Task Force Initiative

Juan Gomez Montiel, an El Paso man, was convicted by a federal jury for coordinating an alien smuggling operation that transported individuals, including an unaccompanied minor, from Mexico into the United States through southern New Mexico and Texas. The case was part of the Homeland Security Task Force Initiative.

Thirteen defendants were sentenced to a combined 915 months for drug dealing, conspiring to distribute drugs, and unlawful firearm possession. The convictions were part of the Homeland Security Task Force Initiative targeting serious crimes.
