The Hopkins community is organizing a vigil at Downtown Park on Monday night to honor Kristen Brown and her daughter Evie, who were killed last week at an in-home daycare. Police reported that Kristen’s husband and Evie’s father, Nathan Brown, allegedly murdered them before taking his own life. The attack also involved the death of Alice Brown, Nathan’s mother.

The relatives of the Brown family are mourning after deadly murders occurred last week. The devastating violence took place at a Hopkins daycare and a Burnsville home, leaving both communities deeply rattled.

A 57-year-old man from Hopkins was acquitted of first-degree assault after being found not guilty by reason of mental illness for allegedly severely injuring his mother. The court determined he did not understand his actions due to mental illness, leading to his civil commitment.

Corey Sauer donated $500,000 to prevent the closure of two Vail Communities clubhouses for people with mental illness. The Minnesota Department of Human Services also provided six months of bridge funding, allowing the programs to operate until sustainable funding is secured. The clubhouses offer social, employment, and support services in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Hopkins.

A fire at a duplex in Hopkins resulted in the deaths of two pets and forced multiple residents to be displaced.
