Saudi Arabia is holding talks regarding state-backed war insurance because related costs are jumping. Owing to the conflict involving Iran and Houthi attacks, insurers have subsequently raised prices or restricted coverage for ships and other firms operating in the region.

Iran’s Foreign Minister dismissed U.S. threats of economic pain from Donald Trump, claiming they are failed policies designed to divert attention from domestic financial problems. Concurrently, Syria’s Foreign Minister arrived in Pakistan for talks focused on regional issues and de-escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. Separately, two Pakistani crew members killed in a Houthi attack were successfully repatriated.

Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest defense contractor, discussed selling over $1 billion in military equipment to the UAE, including drones and aircraft. The UAE requested $180 million in drones after a 2022 Houthi missile attack and later explored $1.3 billion for 45 aircraft. Improved military ties since the 2020 Abraham Accords and U.S. support for the deal are highlighted.

Starlink is expanding internet access in Yemen despite Houthi resistance and high costs, enabling growth in the country's digital workforce. However, affordability remains a barrier for many Yemenis.
