Heavy monsoon rains are expected to cause urban flooding and inundation in low-lying areas of multiple cities across Pakistan, with medium to high flows in nullahs linked to Jhelum, Chenab, and Ravi rivers. Tarbela Dam is nearing maximum capacity, and authorities are on high alert as the National Disaster Management Authority reviews flood preparedness.

A personal security guard of former Azad Jammu and Kashmir prime minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was killed when his convoy came under fire in Poonch district. The guard, Muhammad Asif, was shot while shielding Ilyas during the attack near Tain-Dhalkot bridge over the Jhelum River. Ilyas alleged the attack was by members of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee, though this claim remains unverified.

One person was killed and several injured in clashes between protesters and law enforcement in Poonch, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred along a road connecting Arja and Rawalakot, where activists blocked the route and allegedly assaulted a traders’ leader. The clashes followed disputes over road blockades and a recent attack on Nasir Arbab, a traders’ leader.
