Fire crews extinguished a grass fire near the wreckage, which is operated by the US Marines, the United Kingdom, and the Italian Air Force and costs $102 million each.
- Man accused of swiping backhoe, going on destructive joyride
A man stole a backhoe from a California construction site and caused $25,000 in damage while driving it through a San Diego neighborhood. Liam Algardis Quigley, 28, was arrested and charged with vehicle theft and vandalism. Witnesses reported seeing the stolen machinery knocking down traffic signs and planter boxes.
