Due to declining enrollment projections, Montgomery County Public Schools is undergoing a two-year, two-phase study considering elementary and middle school closures and consolidations. Four Democrats and one Republican advanced in the at-large council race, with a narrow margin between fourth-place Karla Silvestre and fifth-place Fatmata Barrie.
