- Change of plans for high-profile SouthPark site
Mid-America Apartment Communities is seeking to rezone 3.7 acres at Phillips Place in SouthPark from mixed-use to regional activity center to build a 275-unit apartment complex with commercial space. The project would replace the former Regal Cinemas site, which was demolished in 2022. Lincoln Property Co., the original developer of Phillips Place, had previously planned an office tower and hotel for the location.

Lincoln Property Co. is acquiring Charlotte-based The Spectrum Cos. for an undisclosed sum, combining Lincoln's Carolinas division with Spectrum to accelerate development and acquisitions. The move includes merging Spectrum's 43 employees into Lincoln's SouthPark headquarters, which occupies 20,000 square feet at Piedmont Town Center.
