Jamar Propst and Tosha Lewis were charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of conspiracy for allegedly killing Raheim Murray and Carla Murray in their Morganton home. The arrests stemmed from an investigation suggesting the motive was an inheritance of $75,000 belonging to Carla Murray. Following the alleged murders, Propst and Lewis reportedly cleaned up the house, moved the bodies into a Buick, and then lived at the residence.

The couple’s human remains were later found off nature trails in Benfield Park. Authorities allege that after the deaths, Propst and Lewis cleaned up the house, moved the bodies in a Buick, and used the victims' phones for money.

A deer crashed into a Burke County restaurant in Morganton, N.C., on June 23. Officials safely guided the deer out through the back door without injury, and it is reported to be doing well.
