The foreign ministry stated that while sentences were commuted on humanitarian grounds, full release must follow the law. Min Aung Hlaing also dismissed ASEAN's peace plan, saying some member states had discriminated against Myanmar.

Myanmar's detained former leader Aung San Suu Kyi met with a Red Cross representative in Naypyitaw, marking the first such visit since her detention began in 2021. The meeting, confirmed by the ICRC, included private conversation and was described by her son as a positive development after years of limited contact.
