A vigil was held for the victims of Northwest Airlines Flight 255, which crashed on August 16, 1987. The plane was headed to Phoenix after taking off from Detroit Metropolitan Airport at 8:46 p.m. It tilted shortly after clearing the runway and clipped a light pole before shearing the roof off a rental car building.
