A former FDNY firefighter was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison for a fatal collision in East Elmhurst caused by intoxicated and speeding driving. The crash killed 23-year-old Justin Diaz, who had the right of way, after the driver struck Diaz's car at 83 mph in a 25-mph zone.

Three Cambria Heights men were sentenced for a 2024 home invasion and robbery in Douglaston, where they held a family hostage, used weapons, and stole money. Brandon Dash and Ryan Dash received 15-year sentences, while Oneil Thompson received 12 years. A fourth defendant, Jone Smith (Conrad Harrigan), is scheduled for sentencing on July 20.
