The Miami-Dade School Board has selected Rafael Villalobos as the new superintendent of public schools, replacing Dr. Jose Dotres. Villalobos was unanimously approved after a months-long process that included him and Ernie Lozano as finalists.

The Miami-Dade School Board has selected two finalists for the district’s next superintendent. The finalists are Ernie Lozano, human resource chief at Broward Schools, and Rafael Villalobos, Miami-Dade south region superintendent. A decision is expected by month’s end to replace Jose Dotres, whose contract expires in February.
