More than 16,000 refugees have been unable to reunite with families in the UK due to the suspension of the refugee family reunion route. The suspension, which began last September, has left many refugees stuck in conflict zones or relying on people-smugglers to reach safety.

The Home Office has relocated hundreds of asylum seekers from government-funded hotels to army barracks, closing 11 asylum hotels across England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Critics, including the Refugee Council, argue military sites are unsuitable and more costly than hotels, with 350 claimants moved to the Crowborough military camp.
