- Haunting new images reveal the final ship where explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton died
New images of the wreck of Sir Ernest Shackleton's final ship, Quest, have been released, showing its condition in the Labrador Sea off Newfoundland and Labrador. The ship, which sank in 1962 after Shackleton's death in 1922, remains recognizable despite being covered in fishing nets and marine life.
- Over a century after these ships set sail for the South Pole, their wrecks are inspiring new exploration
The wreck of the Terra Nova, which sank 80 years ago in the Labrador Sea, is being mapped in 3D using technology from an Ontario company as part of a Royal Canadian Geographical Society expedition. The ship originally carried British explorer Robert Falcon Scott to the South Pole.
