- CARICOM Ferry Trial Turns to a Ship the Region Already Owns
CARICOM leaders agreed to use Trinidad's existing 74-metre catamaran, Galleons Passage, for a regional ferry trial as a proof of concept. The ship, commissioned in 2018, can carry 400 passengers and 60 vehicles. Early proposals for the trial's first sailings were mentioned but not detailed.

French Guiana joined CARICOM as the eighth associate member on July 7, during the bloc’s 51st leaders’ summit in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia, which took place from July 5 to 8. The territory had first applied in 2012, marking a 14-year effort.
