Rain chances increase tonight as a line moves into Southeast Michigan, though widespread severe weather is not anticipated locally. The cooler pattern will continue through the end of the week, with highs generally reaching near 80.

Dry, seasonably average weather with low 80s temperatures settles into Metro Detroit early this week through Tuesday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms could develop late Tuesday afternoon near the Thumb, and the chance of rain increases into Wednesday as a cold front moves through. Afterward, temperatures will trend slightly below average from midweek into the weekend.

Dense fog has created hazardous travel conditions during the morning commute across Southeast Michigan, leading to a Dense Fog Advisory until 8 a.m. Beyond the fog, weather remains unsettled, with isolated thunderstorms possible today and Thursday. A marginal risk for severe weather is noted later in the week, extending from Flat Rock northward into The Thumb.

Extreme heat in Metro Detroit will persist through Friday with heat indices reaching 105 degrees, followed by thunderstorms and severe weather risks into the Fourth of July weekend. The National Weather Service and Storm Prediction Center warn of potential flooding, damaging winds, and hail, particularly south of the I-69 corridor.
