    Chess player slashed in daytime Union Square attack

    A 62-year-old man playing chess in Union Square Park was slashed in the back during a broad daylight attack on June 21. The suspect, described as wearing a blue shirt and baseball cap, fled westbound on 14th Street. The victim was hospitalized with a laceration but is expected to survive.
