- Russian high schools now require 17 hours of basic military training classes for 6th to 11th grade
Russian high schools are expanding mandatory military training to 17 hours for 6th-11th graders as part of a national security course. The revised curriculum includes firearm handling, first aid, grenades, and drone use, with 50% of the course dedicated to military training by September 1, up from 20%. Plans for a 64-hour combat-focused course are under discussion, amid tensions with NATO and increased legal pressure on schools to establish training facilities.
