- First dinosaur bone from Antarctica found in a drawer
The first dinosaur bone found in Antarctica was discovered in a drawer. The fossil, collected in 1985, is part of the tail of a Titanosaur.
- Scientists thought this was a young T. rex. They were wrong
Scientists have reclassified Nanotyrannus as a distinct dinosaur species, not a juvenile T. rex, based on growth patterns in a tiny throat bone from the original fossil. This smaller predator, about half the size of a T. rex, likely coexisted with its larger cousin, adding complexity to prehistoric ecosystems.
