illegal possession of a firearm

An 18-year-old Georgia man pleaded guilty to illegally carrying a loaded shotgun onto the U.S. Capitol grounds and to a child pornography charge. He was arrested on Feb. 17 after running toward the Capitol wearing body armor and camouflage clothing but did not enter the building. He faces sentencing on Dec. 8.

Javier Bernal-Lopez, a 38-year-old illegal alien from Mexico residing in Keswick, Virginia, pleaded guilty to federal charges of illegally possessing a firearm while unlawfully present in the United States. The case was prosecuted in Charlottesville, Virginia.
