Saturday is expected to become mostly sunny, featuring moderate humidity and high temperatures ranging from the mid to upper 80s.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to return after a four-day break, with increased cloudiness and humidity on Thursday due to an approaching low-pressure system and frontal boundary. Wednesday night will see partly cloudy conditions and warmer temperatures.

Tuesday marks the second day of a dangerous heat wave with intense heat and humidity in the metro area. The weather includes partly to mostly sunny skies, with a strong southwesterly wind contributing to uncomfortably warm conditions.

Rain moves through the High Country with stray showers possible in the metro area today. A low risk of strong to severe storms with damaging winds exists, though coverage is lower than yesterday. High temperatures near 90°F with dangerous heat expected to rise into the upper 90s and low 100s by midweek.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for northwest Cook County, with a tornado warning in effect for parts of northeastern Kane and northwestern Cook Counties. The storms caused quarter-sized hail, 70 mph winds, and tree damage in Bartlett before moving southeast into the metro area. A severe thunderstorm watch remains active for multiple counties until 10 p.m.

Monday night will have partly cloudy skies, comfortable temperatures, and southwest winds of 5-10 mph with a low of 58°F. Tuesday is expected to be variably cloudy, windy with gusts up to 30 mph, and a potential for scattered showers and thunderstorms affecting parts of the metro area, continuing a third day of below-normal temperatures.

Nassau County is considering offering tax breaks to establish a Bass Pro Shop, which would be the first in the metro area. The article notes that Long Islanders would likely support the initiative.
