Moderna developed a personalized cancer vaccine with Merck and tested it in combination with Keytruda, an immunotherapy treatment for melanoma. According to Moderna President Stephen Hoge, if regulators approve the vaccine, thousands of patients who have had high-risk melanoma tumors removed could benefit from it as early as next year.

A personalized cancer vaccine from Moderna and Merck showed promise during a late-stage melanoma trial. The study found that the combination regimen significantly extended the time patients lived without their melanoma returning, compared with Keytruda alone.
