    7-year-old boy dies after being rescued from retention pond

    A 7-year-old boy died after drowning in a retention pond in southwest Charlotte, North Carolina. Firefighters responded to a water rescue call around 6:25 p.m., located the child in the pond, and revived him, but he was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
