Judge Michael Chitty is determining if Karmelo Anthony is entitled to a new trial following his conviction of murdering Austin Metcalf in 2025. The retrial hearing addressed issues including courtroom access restrictions and an off-the-record gentleman’s agreement that limited the character evidence presented during the original trial. Judge Chitty has until Monday to rule on Anthony's motion.

Fort Worth police responded to a shooting at the 6900 block of Misty Glen Court after two men exchanged gunfire following a verbal altercation. One man died at the scene, and the other was hospitalized with gunshot wounds. Authorities noted that preliminary investigations suggested the deceased had an active protective order involving someone living at the home.

A routine call to remove snakes from beneath an Aledo home resulted in wildlife experts discovering an entire den of rattlesnakes in the crawl space. Dallas Fort Worth Wildlife Control collected nearly two dozen venomous reptiles, which were found sheltering due to the cooler environment and available prey underneath the house. The captured snakes will be released far away from the residential area where they were found.
