Some traffic closures remain in effect as Miami-Dade brush fires scorch about 20K acres

Brush fires in west Miami-Dade have burned approximately 20,000 acres, leading to ongoing traffic closures on Krome Avenue, Florida’s Turnpike, and parts of the Tamiami Trail. The largest fire, 'Quarry 2,' has scorched 17,600 acres and is 97% contained, while a separate fire near Medley has burned 1,425 acres and is 60% contained. Firefighters and agencies are working to prevent further spread amid challenging weather conditions.
