Brazil Sends $137 Million to Rio’s Biggest Favelas for Upgrades
The Brazilian federal government committed $137 million (703 million reais) to upgrade three of Rio de Janeiro’s largest favelas: Rocinha, the Alemão complex, and Maré. Rocinha will receive 350 million reais under the signed financing contract.
