Driver says they were stopped by fake officer near McDowell County

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office warns of a person impersonating a law enforcement officer after a victim reported being stopped by an unmarked dark-colored SUV near the McDowell/Avery County line. The suspect allegedly used a blue-light-equipped vehicle, carried a gun, taser, and handcuffs, and conducted an unlawful search without displaying a badge or proper markings.
