Southern California man charged with beating duckling to death

A 71-year-old Irvine man, Randall Lee Bertsch, is facing multiple felony animal cruelty charges after allegedly beating a duckling to death with a recycling bin and seriously injuring another. Prosecutors from the Orange County District Attorney's Office announced the charges, which include two felony counts of animal cruelty and three counts of attempted animal cruelty.
