Supreme Court won’t redefine American citizenship at Trump’s request
The Supreme Court rejected President Donald Trump’s request to redefine American citizenship by limiting birthright rights for children of certain immigrants. The ruling upheld the 14th Amendment’s longstanding precedent, which grants citizenship to most individuals born in the U.S., including those with noncitizen parents, as affirmed in the 1898 case United States v. Wong Kim Ark.
