Residents and hotel guests in Manhattan were gradually allowed to return to cordoned streets after an under-construction high-rise showed structural instability, prompting evacuations and street closures. Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed the building is stable, but four nearby buildings remain under evacuation orders. Construction workers protested the use of non-union labor at the site.

Evacuations were ordered in Midtown after structural support beams buckled in an under-construction skyscraper at 235 East 42nd St., formerly the Pfizer building. A union representative accused developers of adding 16 stories without sufficient steel supports and using cheaper labor, leading to concerns of collapse. Nearby buildings, including the Hampton Inn, were evacuated.

Levi Scovern, 32, died in a motorcycle crash in Hickory after his 2021 Kawasaki struck a 2025 MINI Cooper. Police found excessive speed contributed to the collision, but no charges have been filed.

Wisconsin Sheriff Dale Schmidt is suing Sundas 'Sunny' Naqvi and Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison for $1 million after Naqvi allegedly falsely claimed she was detained by ICE at his jail, while evidence shows she was at a hotel. Schmidt argues the claims defamed his agency and called for accountability.
