    On June 5, 1968, U.S. Sen. Robert F. Kennedy was shot and mortally wounded after winning California’s Democratic presidential primary at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. The assassin, Sirhan Bishara Sirhan, was arrested at the scene.
